The International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies and
The 13th Biennial IHRN Meeting

The International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies (H.R. Network) will hold its 13th Biennial Meeting in Seoul, Korea from October 25 through October 27, 2018, hosted by the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST). This meeting will bring together members of academies from around the world to address shared human rights concerns related to science and scientists.

The meeting will include a public symposium on Science and the Right to Development on October 25, 2018, which will focus on the relevance of human rights for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The symposium will feature presentations from prominent experts on the intersection of human rights and science, medicine, engineering, and academia. A private workshop for academy representatives will be held on October 26 to discuss pressing human rights cases and issues. On the morning of October 27, a special session for graduate students will be held on the theme of science and human rights.

The H.R. Network is an international consortium of national academies and scholarly societies that advocates for colleagues subjected to human rights abuses; promotes the free exchange of ideas and opinions among scientists and scholars; and supports the independence and autonomy of national academies and scholarly societies worldwide.
